Canada has announced a 35% cut in foreign student admissions.
Canada is currently facing a housing crisis regarding housing for international students.
For this reason, the Canadian government has announced that in 2024, 35% fewer admissions will be given to foreign students.
In 2023, 9 million foreign students were given the opportunity to study in Canada.
Canada’s Immigration Minister Mark Miller said that other necessary measures, including limiting the issuance of visas, will be taken before the September 2024 semester, so that our universities can provide adequate and optimal support to students.
The policy will not apply to students currently studying in Canada.
Similarly, the policy will not apply to Masters and PhD students.
This policy is applicable from 22 January 2024.
