The petition for the conservatorship explains that Mavis has been experiencing a gradual decline in cognitive abilities and awareness of time and space over the past several years.
Seeking the court’s approval, the petition aims for substituted judgment to facilitate estate planning and implement a testamentary plan that aligns with what Leno believes his wife would choose if she were able to do so.

Given Mavis’s current incapacitated state, the petition emphasizes Jay’s request for the court to appoint him as conservator of Mavis’s estate.
