Reports (BT). a criminal named Kenneth Eugene Smith has been executed by nitrogen gas in Alabama, while this method of death penalty has been used for the first time in the world.
Convict Eugene Smith, 58, was convicted of murdering Elizabeth Sennett, a preacher’s wife, in 1989 and lost two final appeals to the Supreme Court.

Execution by nitrogen gas took a total of 25 minutes.
Smith was met by family members, two friends and a lawyer before it took 25 minutes for him to die during the sentencing.
